Students fanned out across Northern Virginia to report on voters’ impressions and predictions on election day, Nov. 5. This is one of several reports.
Arlington resident Ralph Holdsworth is predicting a clear victory for the Democratic gubernatorial candidate: Terry McAuliffe. Holdsworth voted for McAuliffe on party lines, saying that Ken Cuccinelli, the Republican candidate, is too far to the right.
“The extreme right has to be smothered,” Holdsworth said after voting at Tuckahoe Elementary School.
Rick White of Arlington said he is begrudgingly predicting a victory for the Democratic candidate in the Virginia gubernatorial race.
“I’m tired of voting for people who lose,” White said about his vote for Cuccinelli. White said he was motivated by a desire to keep the status quo in Virginia, adding that he was satisfied with the current governor, Republican Bob McDonnell.
